Hello all, from sunny, sweaty, San Diego. In case any of you were wondering, we are safe. The fires have not threatened our home, though my parents and many of our friends have been in the evacuation zones. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have impacted by these terrible events.

In the wake of all this heat, I thought I would post... about vodka infusions. A friend requested it a while ago, after seeing one of my instagram photos and I am now finally getting around to it. 

Infusing vodka has been all the rage in the last few months, and I thought I would partake in the trend. In March, I threw my Dad a surprise 60th Birthday party and I thought I would honor him by serving his favorite drink: a Bloody Mary, complete with a Bloody Mary Bar.

My Dad is what I would call a purist - he likes an original bloody mary, with no special fixings, and plain vodka. I did have plain vodka at the party, but I thought the more adventurous guests might want to try a vodka infusion in their cocktail. I did a bit of research, and decided to do a jalapeño infusion and a bacon infusion. They were fantastic!

Below is the recipe I used, though I am sure you can adapt this for whatever ingredients you have in mind. Happy infusing!
