Cards for the moments that matter. Made by someone who needed them first.
At The Noble Paperie, we create sustainably printed paper products to support those struggling through miscarriage, loss, infertility, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) stays, and complicated pregnancies. In other words, a stationery line for the bereaved, and everyone in between. We believe that becoming a mother starts when you prepare your heart to have children—not the actual manifestation of a child. Our line is designed with love and care to support, advocate for, and inspire a community to live with joy through the journey.
We believe in supporting the bereaved, and everyone in between.
The Noble Paperie exists for the moments that are hard to put into words — and for the ones that deserve to be celebrated loudly. We're here for the bereaved, the hopeful, the waiting, and the joyful. For the communities the stationery industry has historically ignored, and for everyone who has ever stood in a card aisle and walked away empty-handed. We have a card for that.
WE AIM TO:
-
Joy, grief, and everything in between — these are the moments that make us human. We make cards for all of them, because every season of life deserves to be acknowledged. No judgment, no fine print, no exceptions.
-
NICU cards. Miscarriage cards. Infertility cards. Cards for the mama still waiting, the family navigating loss, the person who just needs someone to say the right thing. These communities have existed forever; the stationery industry just wasn't paying attention. We are. We also proudly donate a portion of every sale to Trans Lifeline, a grassroots organization offering direct support to trans people in crisis — for the trans community, by the trans community.
-
Every card is printed locally in Southern California on SFI-certified (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) paper, using soy-based inks, with 100% recycled kraft envelopes — and it's all fully compostable. We made these choices deliberately, and we're not going back. This is our only home.
Meet Kate
Kate is the founder and Creative Director of The Noble Paperie. After two pregnancy losses, a high-risk pregnancy, and 34 days in the NICU with her daughter Rose, she designed the cards she couldn't find anywhere else. Ten years later, those cards have been recognized with two Louie Awards, featured in CNN and The Wall Street Journal, and carried by Barnes & Noble and Paper Source.
She still designs every card herself. She still means every word.
The story behind
The Noble Paperie
It all began with two miscarriages, followed by an incredibly complicated pregnancy that defied every statistic and rule in the book. This is the in-depth story behind Kate's high-risk pregnancy and their 34 days in the NICU with Rose. Strap yourself in — it's a long one, but a good read.
Impact
In honor of our daughter, we choose to donate a portion of our proceeds to Trans Lifeline. We know she is privileged to have a family that loves and affirms her, and know this is not always available for many in the Transgender community. Given the rise in anti-Trans rhetoric, the LGBTQIA+ and specifically Transgender communities find themselves under attack. For these reasons, we choose to support Trans Lifeline in the hopes that their efforts can directly support and uplift the Trans community.
Trans Lifeline is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, combining a grassroots hotline and microgrants, offering direct emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis—for the trans community, by the trans community.
Diversity + Inclusion
The Noble Paperie was built on the belief that everyone deserves to feel seen — in life, and in the cards they send and receive. We celebrate all types of diversity: ethnicity, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, and abilities.
Our differences don't divide us. They're the whole point. The full range of human experience is what inspired this brand, and it's what continues to shape every card we make.
Behind the name
“The Noble Paperie”
I grew up going to church. And while I have some very complicated feelings about organized religion now (especially given our love and support of our Transgender daughter), I still can't escape the fact that my formative years were shaped by my faith.
After our daughter was born, I searched for answers and meaning in my experiences. For a time, I returned to my faith as it felt like a safe space after so much grief and heartache. When I was designing my first six cards and trying to come up with a name for this card company, I was reminded of my favorite verse: Philippians 4.8.
This verse has always meant a lot to me; there have been countless times where it has showed up in my life. And where my views on organized religion have drastically changed since naming this business… this verse still feels like the right fit.
I still love the name The Noble Paperie for a line born from grief but built for everyone — for the bereaved, the joyful, and everyone in between. I think that feels pretty excellent and praiseworthy indeed.
Sustainability
in stationery
Kate started Noble Paperie in San Diego, and it's stayed close to home since the beginning. Every card is printed locally, using SFI-certified (Sustainable Forestry Initiative) paper, soy-based inks, and 100% recycled kraft envelopes — all fully compostable. Running a sustainable business isn't an afterthought here. It's part of the same intention that goes into every card we make.
